Sedgefield Village Games (SVG) is back for 2016. With this being an Olympic and Paralympic year, the SVG team is planning to re-visit some of the activities that were held in 2012 and this time incorporate a Brazilian theme.
The Sedgefield Village Games 2016 Festival will run from 6th-18th June and will offer a schedule of free taster events involving a wide range of sports and other activities
The events will be designed for young people, but anyone is welcome to get involved. At the time of writing this, activities/groups that will be included in the programme include Sedgefield Youth FC, Sedgefield Cricket Club, Sedgefield Squash Club, Sedgefield Harriers, Wigglets, Sedgefield District Rugby Club, archery, orienteering and tap dancing. In addition, the community college will host a SVG-themed open event. Children who participate in at least five events during the festival will be able to claim a special beanie hat memento, with a design that is unique to the festival.
SVG will also be contributing to Sedgefield Day on Saturday 11th June, bringing back last year’s popular climbing wall, along with ‘Jungle Obstacle Run’, a series of displays on the village green and sports kit for people to use on the Ceddesfeld Hall lawns.
The Sedgefield Village Games 2016 Festival will be officially launched with a coffee morning in the Manor House on Saturday 7th May, from 10:30am-12:30pm, which is being held in partnership with Sedgefield Ladies Escape. Full details of the festival programme will be unveiled at the event and there will be a display of Rio 2016 inspired artwork created by pupils from the two primary schools. Everyone is welcome.
