Sedgefield Village Games (SVG) returned for 2016. With it being an Olympic and Paralympic year, we revisited some of the activities that were held in 2012 and this time incorporated a Brazilian theme.
The Sedgefield Village Games 2016 Festival ran from 6th-18th June and offereda schedule of free taster events involving a wide range of sports and other activities
The events were designed for young people, but anyone was welcome to get involved.Taster sessions were hosted by Sedgefield Youth FC, Sedgefield Cricket Club, Sedgefield Squash Club, Sedgefield Harriers, Wigglets, Sedgefield District Rugby Club, archery, orienteering, Clubbercise and tap dancing. In addition, the community college hosted a SVG-themed open event. Children who participated in at least five events during the festival were able to claim a special beanie hat memento, with the festivals Brazilian themed logo.
SVG will also contributed to Sedgefield Day on Saturday 11th June, bringing back last year’s popular climbing wall, along with ‘Jungle Obstacle Run’, a series of displays on the village green and sports kit for people to use on the Ceddesfeld Hall lawns.
The Sedgefield Village Games 2016 Festival was officially launched with a coffee morning in the Manor House on Saturday 7th May. which was held in partnership with Sedgefield Ladies Escape. Full details of the festival programme were unveiled at the event and there was a display of Rio 2016 inspired artwork created by pupils from the two primary schools.
